Du Ling is a post-80s returnee entrepreneur, with nearly 10 years of market expansion and sales experience in the relevant industrial field. After graduating from the EMBA program in the United States in 2017, she returned to China to start her own business in January 2018. Traditional solutions in the surface treatment industry face many problems, such as: high job difficulty, high labor cost, difficult job recruitment, safety hazards, and serious pollution. Du Ling is acutely aware of these problems: “I saw the working conditions of the workers at the surface finishing site. They were wearing protective masks for long hours and worked very hard. What I saw touched my heart and made me resolve to make a difference in the surface finishing industry, which indirectly led me to found SURFACE.”
At the beginning of its establishment, the main business of SURFACE was to act as an agent for surface treatment solutions of European brands, but the high cost of foreign products made it impossible to serve more domestic enterprises. After understanding the pain points of the digital transformation of China's surface treatment industry, Du Ling decided to conduct independent research and development. “The core team of our company is the senior experts in the robot industry at home and abroad. Drawing on the advantages of foreign technology, relying on the research and development backing of Shanghai Jiaotong University, through continuous technological accumulation, we have launched our own industrial 4.0 intelligent surface treatment solutions, and have also obtained more than 20 invention patents.”
Regarding the competitive advantage of products, Du Ling said:
“In addition to helping customers solve problems, our technology is more important to allow the equipment to remove dust during surface treatment operations. The equipment can vacuum dust while working, ensuring the cleanliness of the site environment, and employees can operate remotely, far away from dust and noise, which is in line with the industrial 4.0 standard and can effectively protect the health of employees.”
Industry 4.0 smart surface treatment solutions are highly versatile and can be applied to surface treatment of a variety of materials such as composites, alloys, plastics, wood and other materials, and the technology is highly competitive in China. At present, SURFACE Intelligent has reached long-term and stable business cooperation with many well-known enterprises at home and abroad, such as AVIC, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and so on.
